International Edition
For 2008, CEMEX once again calls for entries to the International Edition in three categories that encompass the eight categories of the National Edition of the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD.

Project Execution
|
This attribute assesses the use of innovative construction procedures and systems, the project’s adherence to job specifications and time schedules, and the challenges and solutions for its proper development, as well as the application of safety procedures and standards and their outcomes, and the methodology and criteria followed during the project management as a whole. |
Use and Application of Concrete
|
This attribute assesses solutions implemented that use concrete in preference to other construction procedures and/or alternative materials during the design and execution of the project, as well as procedures to improve the application and handling of concrete. |
Architectural Design |
This attribute assesses the concept, spatial handling, interior and exterior design, functionality, character and identity of the project. |
| Innovative solutions using CEMEX concrete | This characteristic evaluates the use of concrete as a solution in the project design; innovative uses of the material; and the choice of CEMEX concrete over other construction procedures and materials. |
| Urban Concept | This attribute assesses whether the project is congruent with the vision of the corresponding Urban Development Plan, as well as the project’s contribution to the image of the city and respect for the community. |
| Respect for the Environment | This attribute assesses the use and handling of local materials, and proper consideration of prevailing winds, sunlight and natural illumination. Also considered are the selection of a responsible location within the natural context and spatial optimization, as well as sustainable use and management of water resources and green areas. |
| Structural Design | This attribute assesses creativity, integration to the architectural concept and the optimal selection of materials relative to structure and function. |
From each country, the three winning projects corresponding to the three international categories will be brought to Mexico to compete with the winning projects from the other competing countries.
Requirements for Participation
- Only projects completed between January 1, 2006 and December 31, 2007 may compete in the International Edition of the Award.
- All works must have used CEMEX Concretos products in more than 50% of the total consumption of materials.
- All required registration materials should be included in a single package, with a copy of the registration form attached to the rear of the package showing clearly the details of the person presenting the project.
- If the information handed in for any project is incomplete or not on the required forms and in the required format, the Reception and Classification Committee will disqualify the project in accordance with applicable regulations.
- The registration package should be sent to the nearest CEMEX Concretos plant.
