Call for Entries for the
National Edition
Registration Requirements
- Only projects in Mexico may participate.
- The national competition is open to all works finished in Mexico between January 1 and December 31, 2007 and that used more than 50% CEMEX Concretos products in the total amount of materials.
- Each project may only participate in one category, except for those competing in the Residential Complex and Institutional Building categories, which may compete in both Construction and Design. In such cases, the required materials should be handed in individually for each category and two different, independent registration forms completed.
- All required information should be input into this website on or before April 18, 2008.
Required Materials
Participants must first register for the competition and then, with their identification number, they may access this page until April 18, 2008.
1. Registration form
Available at: www.premioobrascemex.com. It should be filled out completely following the indications.
2. Graphic materials
a) General
The following headings must be completed in accordance with the category in which a given work is registered:
- Narrative Accessibility Congruence (in accordance with indications)
- Narrative Sustainable Architecture (in accordance with indications)
- Selection of four photographs, with a corresponding description:
- Interior Photographs
- Exterior Photographs
- Short Description: An explanation, in accordance with the participating category, of the general concept of the project, and the constructional criteria and processes (150 characters).
- Total area of the work
- Date on which the project was begun
- Date on which the project was concluded
b) Photographs of the project:
Registration requires a minimum of four photographs and a maximum of 16 (in .jpg format at 400 dpi on letter-sized original) covering the following aspects:
- Interiors
- Exteriors
- Perspectives
- Details (structural and/or design)
- Context of the project (surroundings)
The photographs should be representative of the project, emphasizing those characteristics that are particular to the category in which the project is competing, and showing the surroundings of the building work to give an idea of its context.
c) Plans:
Registration requires a minimum of two plans and a maximum of 10, as follows:
- Floor plans
- Perspectives
- Elevations
- Cross sections
- Structural details
The plans should be representative of the project, emphasizing those characteristics that are particular to the category in which the project is competing.
d) Narrative:
This is a detailed description of the general concept of the project, its main characteristics, the innovative applications of concrete used, the outstanding processes involved in the execution of the project, the difficulties faced during the planning, design and execution phases, and any other outstanding characteristics or procedures related to the planning and execution, emphasizing information relevant to the particular category in which the project is competing (XXX characters).
e) Attachments
Attachments are optional and present additional information, such as environmental impact studies, simulations, or relevant certifications and/or accreditations.
NONE OF THESE DOCUMENTS SHOULD INCLUDE ANY INFORMATION ON THE AUTHORS OR COMPANIES RESPONDIBLE FOR THE CONSTRUCTION. IF SUCH INFORMATION IS FOUND IN ANY DOCUMENT, IT WILL BE ELIMINATED.
3. Video
- Quantity: one video per registered project in AVI, WMV or MOV format.
- Duration: from three to five minutes.
- The video should show the entire project and include images of the surroundings and shots of the interior and exterior spaces.
- Shots of the project authors should not be included.
- The video does not need to have a soundtrack, unless it is to describe the project and explain the images in order to give a better understanding of the project.
- The video should be clear and representative.
- It is very important to adhere to the indicated format and keep within the official time limits.
- Every participating project must present a video.
Participants
The authors or representatives of a given work may be the project’s architects, engineers, owners, or private or public investors in representation of the efforts of the entire team who made the project possible.
Jury
All participants agree to accept the decisions of the Jury as final. They have no right to appeal.

Participants may only register their projects through this webpage. Hard copy applications will not be accepted.
