TROPHY
A result of the communion of Nature’s own materials, such as black marble, with others from man’s inspiration, such as concrete, the trophy given in recognition of the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD is a sculpture that embodies man’s vision to use the materials within his reach and convert them into versatile, expressional elements of architecture, construction and design in projects that crystallize the highest standards of efficiency and sustainable building.
This commemorative award emanates from the creativity of an outstanding sculptor, Miguel Ángel González, rising from a base that symbolizes a contemporary column with a capital made up of geometric constructivistic elements that evoke man’s capacity to manipulate and organize elements in a harmony that is capable of transforming its surroundings.
Since the year 2000, this sculptural representation has been awarded as a trophy to the winners of the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD and, just like the competition itself, year after year the pieces have grown in importance, maintained their relevance and gained a highly-respected place in the construction and design industries, both within Mexico and internationally.
Each and every one of the works that have been recognized since the initiation of the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD has a unique and special character. In a similar way, these commemorative sculptures have a very distinctive essence that goes beyond their esthetic qualities to stimulate the imagination, creativity and innovation of their proud owners.
