What is the award?

The CEMEX BUILDING AWARD is a competition created and organized by CEMEX to recognize the best in construction in Mexico and throughout the world.

Through this AWARD, CEMEX is promoting a culture of continuous innovation in the building industry and recognizing the constructional talent of those who make the best works a reality.

The projects that take part in the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD are evaluated by eight distinguished members of the Honorary Jury: José Izquierdo, Antonio Toca, Roberto Stark, Fernando López, Carlos Alberto Clément, Carlos Campuzano, Luis Guillermo Aycardi and Carlos Fonseca, who sit on the Jury for a period of five years. In addition, every year, seven specially-invited jurors join the team. The participation of all members is totally voluntary, unremunerated and impartial, with CEMEX’s only directive being to judge each work according to the category in which it is participating.

The construction industry produces many different types of building works, whose execution demands different strategies and attention in the resolution of challenges in the construction process. Thus, the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD is broken down into eight different categories which are evaluated according to the particular characteristics that distinguish them.

Objective

The objective of the CEMEX BUILDING AWARD is to recognize and reward the best contemporary building works finished during 2007 that stand out for the constructional, conceptual, technical and esthetic solutions implemented. By acknowledging outstanding projects, the award also recognizes the construction professionals whose designs and execution made the building possible.
